About Bokamoso Home Community Based Care
Bokamoso, which means "future" in English, is at the heart of everything we do. Bokamoso Home Community Based Care is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a brighter future for the most vulnerable members of our society. Our mission is to provide holistic support and a nurturing environment for orphans, vulnerable children, youth, and people living with HIV, ensuring that every individual we serve is cared for, supported, and empowered.
Since our establishment on May 13, 2019, and official registration with the Department of Social Development (registration number 227-761), we have become a beacon of hope in the communities we serve. Our main office is located in the heart of Kanana Location, Ward 22, with two vital satellite offices in Jouberton and Tigane. This strategic presence allows us to be a consistent and reliable pillar of support, reaching individuals directly where they live and building strong, trusting relationships with the community.
Our work is comprehensive and designed to address the multifaceted challenges faced by those we serve. We believe that by tackling poverty, promoting health, and fostering personal growth, we can create a positive and sustainable living environment.
Combating Poverty and Providing Nutritional Support Poverty is a significant barrier to well-being, and its effects on children are particularly devastating. Our center provides daily cooked meals to children who come for psychosocial support services, ensuring they receive the essential nutritional support they need to learn, play, and grow. This simple act of providing a meal not only alleviates the daily burden of hunger but also creates a safe and consistent space for children to feel cared for.
Fostering Mental and Emotional Well-being We understand that mental and emotional health are just as important as physical health. Our team offers dedicated psychosocial support services, creating a safe and confidential space for individuals to talk about their challenges, process trauma, and build emotional resilience. By providing a listening ear and professional guidance, we help our youth and community members navigate difficult life circumstances and develop the coping skills necessary to thrive.
Promoting Health and Education Education is a key to unlocking future potential. We provide educational support to help children and youth with their schoolwork, ensuring they have the tools and assistance they need to succeed academically. Furthermore, our health promotion programs focus on educating the community on vital health issues, including HIV/AIDS prevention and care, to empower individuals to make informed decisions about their well-being and live healthier lives. We strive to create an environment free of stigma, where every person feels supported in their health journey.
Empowering Through Economic Opportunities To truly break the cycle of poverty, we focus on economic empowerment. We equip young adults and vulnerable individuals with practical skills and knowledge through various programs, from job readiness workshops to mentorship opportunities. Our goal is to provide them with the tools they need to secure employment, build financial independence, and contribute positively to their families and community. Additionally, we organize and facilitate various outdoor activities, promoting physical well-being, teamwork, and social connections, which are crucial for a balanced and healthy life.
At Bokamoso, we are more than just an organization; we are a family dedicated to building a brighter future for those who need it most. Our commitment is unwavering, and our passion for our community drives every action we take.
